2010 - When Everything Changes

And so another year comes to an end and, boy, has it gone quickly! I thought it'd be unbearable without a full series but it's been strangely tolerable!

Back in April, we saw Planet of the Dead, the first of the specials, where the Doctor was stranded on a deserted planet with a bunch of people on a double decker bus. Adventures followed and, back on Earth, the chilling prophecy was revealed. "He will knock four times," and "Your song will end soon..."

Then, after a long seven month break, The Waters of Mars broadcasted, perhaps one of the Doctor's most poignant stories. Should he save the people destined to die or sit back and let time run it's course?

Now, we have The End of Time, the final of the tenth Doctor's episodes, and he is going to die. The second part is shown tomorrow and it really will be the end of an era... He will surely go out on a high, though, and millions of tears will be cried.

And then it's time for the change. New Doctor, new companion, new headwriter, new logo, new TARDIS... It does sound good, but we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

Happy New Year from The-OncomingStorm and be sure to come back here tomorrow after the... *gulps* regeneration! Gaaah!

David Tennant Interview

The final part of The End of Time is on TV tomorrow and, in a new interview, David Tennant has said that viewers will be left heartbroken by the final "brilliant" plot twists.

He told BBC Breakfast, "Coming to the final episodes, you (think) will these live up to one's hopes for what that finale will be?

"And then you read the script - The Doctor's been told he's going to die, he knows he's going to die, so you get to play that new flavour with this character that you've got to know so well... suddenly you're playing a man who knows his end is coming.

"He's been told: 'He will knock four times' and you get the Master with these four beats in his head and you think, well, that's what that is. When you find out tomorrow night what that really means - (it) just breaks your heart - it's brilliant."

Thanks to Msn UK for this information.

Sadness...

The BBC have released two new wallpapers of the 10th Doctor and they both made me reach for a tissue.

I know I'm being wimpy about the whole regeneration thing, but I'm incredibly passionate about the whole show and my favourite Doctor is dying... so please don't think I'm being silly or anything. Three days now...

What is the best 10th Doctor Episode?

The big episode is less than three days away now and the 10th Doctor's era will soon come to an end. Over the weeks you've been voting in polls to decide the best episode from David Tennant's Doctor, and now it's time to decide the overall winner. The final stories are Doomsday, Blink, Turn Left and The Waters of Mars.

There is a new poll up now so please vote for your favourite of the four and that will produce your overall favourite 10th Doctor's episode! How exciting!

Brand New Trailer

Everytime I think about the regeneration I feel strangely ill, so this new trailer didn't exactly help:

Your Thoughts - The End of Time Part One

Wow! The amazing first part of The End of Time has just been broadcasted and oh my goodness... What an episode! What's gonna happen to Donna? How are the Time Lords back? What's the Doctor gonna do about the new Master race? Will Wilf be OK?

It doesn't look very good for everyone involved...

What did you think of this episode? As you can tell, I absolutely loved it. How about you?

Updates

Despite the fact that The End of Time is only a few days away, there is an annoying lack of news at the moment, so I apologise for the restricted posts.

But, as you know I'm trying to discover what you think is the tenth Doctor's best episode, and so far the stories making it into the final are Doomsday, Blink and Turn Left. Now there is a poll up for the best special, so please vote and then next week the best overall one can be decided.

What's your favourite 10th Doctor Quote?

Seeing as the tenth Doctor's life is fastly coming to an end (sniff!) it seems quite nice to have some sort of memorial post. As well as finding out what you think is the best episode (see the poll below!) I want to know what your favourite quote from the Doctor is. He's quite talkative most of the time and really has had some gems, but my favourite is:

"I'm burning up a Sun just to say goodbye."

Doomsday always gets to me... what about you?

Fan Fiction Fridays : Will and Seb

For those Whovians who enjoy reading, there are plenty of Fan Fictions out there to look at, and I've decided to celebrate this with Fan Fiction Fridays. Every week I'll be making a recommendation that you might want to read.

To start off I will be recommending one of the greatest websites out there completely dedicated to Fan Fiction. It's called Will and Seb's Blog and it really is fantastic. They have so far produced two series full of thirteen original episodes, including fictional characters such as Georgia and Conner. The stories, which include the 10th Doctor, are always of a high quality, and I had a quick interview with Will, who told me some more about it.

Hi Will. So, what inspired you to first write Doctor Who fan fiction?

Hmm. Well I guess it's because I've always loved Doctor Who. It's like when you're a kid; you make up stories in the playground, except we've written them down. When we first started Will and Seb, it was about our various projects, but after a while we decided to publish the stories on the site, and it went from there really!

Would you say that you have an over-active imagination, then?

Yeah, I'd say that I do. You can usually see me thinking of ideas in lessons at school, which is particularly helpful for my education. But yeah, my imagination is often way too active for my liking.

Well, you can blame the Doctor if you fail any subjects!

Yup! But could you really blame the Doctor for anything? He's helped me quite a lot in English. Not him personally, he doesn't pop along to my lessons every now and then. That would be good, but he has helped my imagination.

Can you give a basic summary of your fan fictions so far?

Oh God. Right. Prepare yourself. Georgia Bell meets the Doctor, and she joins him on his travels. Then Conner Bennet meets the Doctor, and joins them on their travels too. His friends from school, Zac Pemberton, Kaylie Watson and Harry Ladbrooke find out about the Doctor. Zac joins them for a while in the TARDIS, but ultimately decides to remain at home.

Georgia loses her brother Richard to the Slitheen, and her parents Colin and Elizabeth and understandably upset. There is also a man following the Doctor through time and space called Petr Costravalos, and he and his assistant Pippa Blackwell are hunting him for a sinister purpose.
The Daleks return, Harry Ladbrooke dies, and Beth Grant (another school friend) helps Conner defeat a group of Clowns.

Oh, and an evil soothsayer demon who predicts death called Rack has attacked the Doctor twice, and will return one day. Ooh, and one Dalek survived, and has plans...

Eep. That doesn't sound too good... do you plan on writing for the 11th Doctor as well? What are your future plans?

Well, in the immediate future, Georgia and Conner will be joined by a brand new companion, a Japanese film star called Korena Hashimoto, from the year 3999. In the longer future, we've got a third series planned, and we've discussed the possibility of a fourth series. I don't know if we'll write 11th Doctor stories one day, but at the moment, we plan to keep the Tenth Doctor where he is.

OK. How do you keep on top of writing all the stories? After seeing your site, you write 13 episodes, each in 5 parts… isn’t that a lot of work?

It is. Some stories can take a month to write. But, this year in particular, we've balanced the stories quite well; I write a story or two, then Seb does the same. Last year we were really just settling down, and we hadn't planned anything like this. I ended up writing four stories in a row! It was a nightmare, believe me.

I bet. Well, congratulations on your achievements so far and I hope you gain more success in the future. Thanks for taking the time to answer the questions!

Thanks for the interview! Maybe you could write an episode for us one day...

That would certainly be interesting! Thanks again!

I really would suggest that you visit the site soon. As well as the brilliant stories, the owners and both friendly and very welcoming. The link is here so take a look if you can!

Thursday Trivia

Seeing as it's Thursday here's another trivia question for you! First of all, though, the answer to last week's question was Derek and the students. Well done to anyone who got it right! Here is this week's one:

In the Series Three episode 'Blink' the Doctor had a timey wimey detector. At how many paces could it boil an egg?

Weeping Angels to Return!

Steven Moffat has confirmed that the Weeping Angels will be returning during Series Five! During a recent interview, he revealed that the scary statues, first seen in Blink, will be causing trouble for the 11th Doctor. He said, "Don’t assume that we’ve faced the biggest threat yet. I believe we do have a bigger one, which is great..."

Eep. It's time to practise stopping blinking again...

New End of Time Clip

As the End of Time creeps ever closer, we're being treated to some new clips! There's nothing spoiler-worthy in the clip below so feel free to watch it. Thanks to Will (as always) from Will and Seb for telling me about this!

Trivia Thursdays

This is just for a bit of fun really because I realise I don't post that much. From now on, Thursdays are Trivia day, where I'll be posting a question that you can have a go at. Also, on Fridays, starting from next week, it'll be Fan Fic Friday, and that's fairly self explanatory. Anyway, here's your question for this week:

During the episode 'Rose,' who does she think is messing around when she first encounters the Autons?

The answer will be revealed next week. Try not to cheat! (Comments are hidden until the next Trivia day)

New Clip!

A brand new clip from The End of Time has been released and you can watch it below! Thanks again to Will from Will and Seb for sending this to me!

Notices

This is a bit of a random post really but I just need to make a few things clear. Firstly, I apologise for the recent comments on the C Box; I was impersonated and did not leave those messages. By now, I'm hoping you'll realise this because I respect my visitors and would not say such things.

Secondly, please continue to vote in the poll because it's almost over for this week. I'm trying to find out what you think is the best tenth Doctor episode!

Speaking of which, over Christmas and New Year, I will be releasing a special Tenth Doctor tribute calendar that you can print out, so that's all good. Finally, I might be releasing an episode as a preview for the Fan Fiction series, and if it goes down well, the full series will be up later this month.

Thanks for reading!

New Doctor Who Christmas Ident

As the Christmas Special creeps ever closer, the BBC have released a tiny teaser which will regularly be shown on the channel. I love this one so much, but lets hope the Doctor doesn't fall off... it'd be regeneration by reindeer...

The End of Time...

Will from Will and Seb has kindly shown me the below image which is from the TARDIS Wiki website. We're not entirely sure if it's an official image yet, but it does look fairly genuine.

Less than four weeks...

What is the best 10th Doctor episode?

Seeing as David Tennant's final episodes as the Doctor are fastly approaching (sniff) I thought that a special tribute of some sort seemed appropriate. So, I've decided to try and find out exactly what the best 10th Doctor episode is.

Basically, every week there will be a poll up where you can vote for your favourite episode from a certain series as well as all the specials. Then, the winners of each individual poll will go into a special final poll to decide the overall favourite episode (besides The End of Time, obviously). So the first poll is up now in the second sidebar, so please cast your vote!

The Last Voyage - Audio Story

I apologise for posting this late, but the BBC have released details about a brand new Doctor Who Audio adventure entitled 'The Last Voyage.' It features the Tenth Doctor and the synopsis and cover are below:

The TARDIS materialises on board the maiden voyage of a pioneering space cruiser, travelling from Earth to the planet Eternity. The Doctor has just started exploring the huge, hi-tech Interstitial Transposition Vehicle when there is a loud bang, a massive jolt and a flash of light. Shortly afterwards, he discovers that nearly all the passengers and crew have disappeared. Unless the Doctor and flight attendant Sugar MacAuley can take control and steer the ship, they could crash-land – or keep slipping through space forever. And as if that wasn’t enough, something awful awaits them on Eternity.

This will be released in the UK on January 7th 2010 at the RRP of £7.99.

Confirmed Dates (EDITED)

The dates and times for David Tennant's final two specials as the Doctor have been revealed, as well as some Doctor Who Confidentials. Here is the Christmas line up:

The End of Time (Part One) - Christmas Day, 6.00pm (60 minutes)

Doctor Who Confidential - Lords and Masters (60 minutes) Presumably this will be on straight after the episode.

The End of Time (Part Two) - New Year's Day, 6.45pm (75 minutes)

Doctor Who Confidential - Allons-y (60 minutes) Again, I'm guessing this will be on straight after the episode.

How exciting! Only four weeks now...

Readers Digest

I was very kindly sent the next cover for 'Readers Digest' and it features a great interview with David Tennant. The image is below, followed by an extract.

David Tennant has admitted he has “nothing to say” to new Time Lord, Matt Smith.

Tennant told Reader’s Digest, in an exclusive interview for the December issue, that he’d spoken to his successor several times “but there’s nothing to say. I think we both thought we’d be able to exchange lots of ideas. But actually it’s none of my business how Matt does it and nothing I say can really help him.”

Talking about his final foray as the Doctor in this year’s Christmas special, Tennant says “This year we’ve done something different. It is still set in Christmas, but it’s perhaps not got quite as much, er…Christmas cheer as before.” Tennant adds that come Christmas Day he’ll be watching his own send off. “Just to enjoy the moment. It’s my last Doctor Who – it will be nice to witness that.”

Tennant is now the proud possessor of his own sonic screwdriver, the Doctor’s signature gizmo. “I have one of the real things! I’ve only once used it to impress a child. It was a charity thing but it was quite cool. He was only about five, so it was a nice, wide-eyed moment.”

While he “doesn’t have any regrets” about leaving the iconic series Tennant is prepared for the inevitable “pangs of jealousy” once he’s handed over the Doctor’s mantle.

But Tennant fans shouldn’t think he’ll be resting on his laurels.

Hinting at possible future plans, Tennant reveals that as a child he loved Marvel’s The Avenger’s, a comic about a team of crime-fighting superheroes. “It’s yet to be made into a film, although I think there are rumblings. I’d be quite happy to be involved.” Indeed the film is in pre-production, with Robert Downey Jr. and Scarlett Johansson already signed on.

David Tennant, superhero? Fans would say he’s played that role already.

Also, the EPIC new St Trinians 2 trailer can be seen here and DT looks... odd.

The End of Time Synopsises! (Synopsi? Synopses?)

The BBC have released two summaries for the 10th Doctor's final episodes and they can be seen below:

The End of Time - Part One

It’s the Tenth Doctor’s final journey - but his psychotic nemesis the Master has been reborn, on Christmas Eve. With both determined to cheat death, the battle ranges from the wastelands of London to the mysterious Immortality Gate, while the alien Ood warn of an even greater danger approaching, as a terrible shadow falls across the entire Universe...

The End of Time - Part Two

The Doctor faces the end of his life as the Master’s plans hurtle out of control. With the sound of drums growing louder, and an ancient trap closing around the Earth, the Doctor and Wilf must fight alone. But sacrifices must be made, and the deadly prophecy warns: “He will knock four times.”
