John Barrowman, famous for playing Captain Jack, has been spotted on set filming for the Doctor Who specials! This confirms his character's return, but there have also been rumours that a Slitheen and Russell Tovey (Midshipman Frame) have been spotted. What do you think of these returns?

No Wins at the BAFTAS
For some strange reason which I can't even begin to understand, Doctor Who didn't win the award for Best Drama last night at the BAFTAs. It lost out to Wallander, and faced other competition from Shameless and Spooks. David Tennant also presented an award and attended the evening with his girlfriend Georgia Moffett.
Also, today is Russell T Davies' birthday and he is 46 years old. I'd just like to wish him a great day and thanks for writing so many amazing Doctor Who episodes. He will certainly be missed.

Updates...
Just a quick post here to say that over the next few weeks (probably until the end of May/middle of June) there won't be as many updates to the site, mainly because my G.C.S.Es are starting soon and I have to be revising a lot so that I won't end up being like Rose with a job in a shop, eating chips everyday (no offence to people like that). And besides, there isn't another Doctor Who episode until November so the news is a bit limited at the mo.
I would accept help updating the site, though, if anyone's interested... Things like finding news, offering to make stuff, it's all appreciated. Thanks!

Gillian Anderson to play the Rani?
The Daily Express has reported that the American actress Gillian Anderson has been rumoured to play the Rani during Series 5. The singer Amy Winehouse has previously been linked with this role, and nobody yet knows if Steven Moffat has any plans to bring back the renegade Time Lord. The Rani, who appeared during older episodes of Doctor Who, is an evil scientific genius and would be a tough match for the eleventh Doctor, set to be played by Matt Smith.

New Torchwood Wave 2 Figures
A brand new wave of Torchwood figures are set to be released by SciFiCollector, and they have now released the new approved images of the 4 figures. You can see them below:
To see Toshiko Sato, click here.
To see Captain John Hart, click here.
To see Ianto Jones, click here.
To see the Blowfish, click here.
In my opinion, the figures don't look very realistic. Captain John Hart's eyes look too beady, and Ianto's hair looks black! Also, the Blowfish's chest is just plain weird...
What do you think? Will you be buying these? They will be released at a RRP of £9.99 this summer. All credit to Miss Gallifrey for everything in this post. Thank you!!

Doctor Who Theme Tune Wins Award
The Doctor Who theme tune is one of the most recognisable pieces of music ever from a television programme, and a new poll has shown this on Total Sci-Fi Online. The poll was opened to determine the 'Best (Sci-Fi) Theme Tune of all Time,' and Doctor Who's opening music was up against the music from many famous programmes, some being Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Star Trek and The X Files. Here are the results:
1) Doctor Who
2) Red Dwarf
3) The X Files
4) Buffy the Vampire Slayer
5) Star Trek
6) Thunderbirds
7) The Twilight Zone
8) Battlestar Galactica
9) Quantum Leap
10) Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy
The theme tune to Doctor Who was originally composed by Ron Grainer and has been altered slightly many times during the show's history by others such as Murray Gold. Well done to all the composers for making such an iconic theme tune!
Thanks to DWMO for the information!

Another Return for Jack?
Rumours have been circulating the internet as John Barrowman, who plays the famous Captain Jack Harkness, has hinted that there could be a return for his character in David Tennant's final episodes.
He said to DigitalSpy: “Jack will always return to the TARDIS if the Doctor’s in need - to help save the planet or conquer an alien race trying to invade... That’s all I can say! You know how secretive we are about all of that.”
Would you like Jack to return? Or would there be just too much of him on our screens, considering Torchwood is returning soon for its 5 part special? Thanks to WhovianNet for the news!

Series 5 Producers Announced
The BBC have revealed the producers for the 5th series of Doctor Who. They are Tracie Simpson and Peter Bennett while Beth Willis will become an executive producer alongside Steven Moffat and Piers Wenger. Steven Moffat, who has written Doctor Who episodes such as 'Blink' and 'The Girl in the Fireplace' said:
"Beth and Tracie and Pete aren't the A Team, they're the people the A Team call. Tracie and Pete are the backstage stars of Doctor Who and having them on board as producers isn't just the best possible news for Matt Smith's first series, it's a massive relief. And Beth Willis, fresh from the brilliant Ashes To Ashes, is joining Piers and I as an executive so finally there'll be someone to wear the trousers."

Planet of the Dead DVD Information
The cover for the Planet of the Dead DVD has been released by 2entertain, and can be seen below. The synopsis is as follows:
Bionic Woman and Merlin star Michelle Ryan plays the mysterious Lady Christina de Souza who joins the Doctor on a bus-trip which takes a very unexpected detour into danger. British comedy star Lee Evans also joins the cast playing a character called Malcolm whose life becomes connected to the Doctor's under extraordinary circumstances and Noma Dumezweni returns as Captain Erisa Magambo - last seen helping Rose and Donna save the world in Turn Left.
Sorry for the poor quality picture with the watermark - I'll try and replace it as soon as I can. The DVD is released on June 29th 2009 at a RRP of £15.99. Will you be getting this? Personally, I'm hoping there will be a boxset with all the specials in - I'll definitely get that!

Malcolm to have a Spin Off?
The Sun has been reporting that Malcolm and Captain Magambo will have a spin off in the future, because Russell T Davies was so impressed by Lee Evans' and Noma Dumezweni's performances in Planet of the Dead that he apparently thinks they deserve a show. According to the Sun, he said, "They are a spin off series waiting to happen. UNIT soldiers often work best as half of a double-act, so Magambo needed a foil, though we never dreamed we’d get to cast the part so well."
Would this be a good idea? I personally think there are already enough spin offs, and another one would probably ruin their characters. Leave it to Torchwood and SJA!

Spooky Prophecy Theories
In Doctor Who, it seems an episode isn't complete without a spooky prophecy linking in to future episodes. Saturday's Planet of the Dead was no exception either, with Carmen telling the Doctor three chilling warnings:
"Your song is ending, sir."
"It is returning through the darkness."
"He will knock four times."
So what could all these mean? Firstly, we know the Doctor's song is ending because over Christmas/New Year the 10th Doctor will regenerate as David Tennant steps down from the role to introduce Matt Smith as the 11th incarnation of our favourite TimeLord.
As for the second point, there are plenty of theories. Maybe it could be the return of Davros, or perhaps Gallifrey? This is the part I'm not sure of. However, the third point I'm absolutely positive is relating to the Master. Remember his infectious 'duh duh duh duh' of the drums? Also, some have said it could be the mysterious Midnight entity which was never revealed as it tapped on the doors of the spaceship the Doctor was travelling on... Others believe it could be Wilf knocking on the TARDIS doors...
What do you think? Feel free to post your thoughts.

Next Time: The Waters of Mars
Sorry if this is a little late, but better late than never! Below is the 30 second trailer for the next special, The Waters of Mars, along with some screencaps I made (please credit if you're gonna take them!) Also, it seems this was filmed in the National Botanic Garden of Wales which I've been to before!

Planet of the Dead : Episode Discussion
So the Easter special Planet of the Dead has just been shown and it's time to share your thoughts! Did you enjoy the episode or was it a bit boring for you? Personally, I thought it was a fantastic episode, and Malcolm was my favourite character since Rose Tyler. As for the part at the end... the knocking 4 times clearly means the Master... Leave your thoughts below!
Also, the next special has been revealed to be 'The Waters of Mars' and a great clip was shown, which will be up soon!

The Runaway Bride Once More?
Wow - two posts in one day. How strange for me! Anyway, Catherine Tate has been spotted playing Donna - in a wedding dress; she's getting married, again! But who to this time? It has been rumoured that it is a black man whose book the Doctor was carrying, but this has been unconfirmed. The Doctor is expected to crash the wedding! Thanks to Scooty for the pictures, see more here.
Also, filming has been commencing at 13 Bannerman Road, otherwise known as Sarah Jane's house! Could another return be on the cards before David Tennant's Doctor regenerates?

Oh no... Bad news for Tennant Fangirls...
I am having trouble controlling my rage at the moment... but I'll try and get through this post without getting too mad...
A picture has been leaked of the Doctor kissing Lady Christina de Souza from tomorrow's episode Planet of the Dead. Hmph. It seems the Doctor has to kiss every female he meets at the moment (well, nearly every female. Luckily not people like Margaret Blaine or Harriet Jones...) including Rose, Reinette, Martha, Donna, Astrid... even Jackie! (sort of...) Perhaps he's just making the most of his good looks before he regenerates (no offence to Matt Smith...)

David Tennant Speaks
In the latest issue of Radio Times, out now with a special Planet of the Dead cover, David Tennant has spoken about the times ahead as the 10th Doctor's life comes to an end.
“You can sense the bell tolling for the Tenth Doctor. Something happens in (Special No.2) that fundamentally alters who the Doctor is and where he is, which is the sort of thing you can only do when you know that you’re coming to an end. That’s very exciting, and quite sad. The end is nigh. You can sense the Grim Reaper knocking on the door. But how many times?”
Oh no! Maybe he could change his mind and stay...? There's still time yet!! Thanks to WhovianNet for the news!

MAJOR SPOILER!
Everyone thought it was gonna happen - and now it has.
Catherine Tate, aka Donna Noble, has been spotted filming alongside Jacqueline King (Sylvia Noble) and David Tennant. You can see a picture below and Donna certainly looks in fine form!
The most likely theory is that she comes across Verity Newman's book, A Journal of Impossible Things, and her mother and grandfather Wilf (Bernard Cribbins has also been spotted filming) try to stop her from reading it. If she does remember the Doctor, she'll burn up and we can't have that happening to our favourite gobby bride! What do you think of all this?
Thanks to Rob for the tip and SpoilerTV for the picture!

Doctor Who Confidential Confirmed
This may be old news but I haven't got round to posting about it yet so here you go: it has been confirmed that an episode of Doctor Who Confidential will be shown for the Easter special Planet of the Dead. The episode is called Desert Storms, and will air at 8.30 pm on BBC Three after Planet of The Dead. It will include special behind the scenes footage during the filming of the episode, as well as interviews with the cast and crew. It is expected to be an hour long and will cover the team's trip to Dubai!

John Simm Filming?
The picture below shows Bernard Cribbins and a man, who looks a lot like John Simm, filming the finale for the 10th Doctor. Could he really be reprising his role as the Master? His hair does look a lot different, but it still looks very much like him. Although, if he were returning, it would probably be more secret... what do you think?
