Victory of the Daleks - Your Thoughts

Exterminate! The Daleks have just made their truimphant return to Doctor Who and certainly caused plenty of trouble for the Doctor and Amy, but what did you think of the episode? Did you like Winston Churchill and the newly designed/coloured Daleks, or did you think it was all a little boring?

Please leave your views here if you can!

Notes:

- Amy doesn't seem to remember the events that happened in the past, when the Daleks famously invaded during 'Journey's End.' How could she possibly miss this, with all the planets in the sky? It's sounding similar to Donna...
- More cracks are appearing. What's happening with this?
- Will the Daleks make another reappearance soon?

Series Five Volume One - DVD Cover

The cover art for Volume One of the Doctor Who DVDs has been released and you can see it below. The volume, also in Blu-Ray, features the first three episodes of series five, as well as 'The Monster Files' and other special bonuses. It will be available to buy from 7th June 2010.

Thanks to Whovian Net for the images.

As tonight's eagerly anticipated episode creeps closer, as well as the return of the legendary Daleks, many fans can't wait until 6.30pm. However, DWO have exclusively seen the episode and have written a spoiler free review, which claims that it was "easily the best Dalek story since the new series returned in 2005."

Read it all here and I can assure you that nothing is given away.

10 Teasers

Digital Spy have released ten teasers for Victory of the Daleks:

3. The Ironsides are completely harmless beings and have the ultimate aim of helping the British, under the guidance of Winston Churchill (guest star Ian McNeice), to win the war.

4. Hailing from the 21st Century, Amy knows all about the Daleks, right? Right?!

5. Winston really wants something from The Doctor.

6. "We shall return to *** *** **** and ***** *****."

7. Amy: "Ever fancied someone you know you shouldn't?"

8. Star Wars.

9. There are not only army-coloured Daleks, but multi-coloured Daleks too.

The Beast Below - Thoughts

Sorry for this being late - I couldn't get online last night. Anyway, The Beast Below has made its debut and it hascertainly divided Doctor Who fans. Some loved it, some hated it. But what did you think of the episode? Did you love the Smilers and the space whale, or did you think it was all a little complicated?

The episode managed 6.7 million viewers in total, which is a slight dip, but this is hopefully because of the sunny weather and the football on the other channels.

New Doctor Who Game

The BBC has announced that there will be a free episodic Doctor Who game for the PC and Mac titled 'Doctor Who: The Adventure Games.' It will feature the current 11th Doctor and Amy Pond in four unique adventures. Matt Smith and Karen Gillan will actually voice their characters and the episodes will be written by Phil Ford and James Moran.

Steven Moffat, the show's current headrunner, said, "Children don’t just watch Doctor Who - they join in. They make up games, invent their monsters, create their own stories. Now, there’s something else - now they can be the Doctor in brand new episodes."

The first episode, available for free on the BBC website, will be released in June. More information will follow.

Episode Two Teasers

Digital Spy have released ten teasers for episode two, 'The Beast Below:'

1. It's set more than a millennium into the future, at a time when the Earth has been abandoned and the UK is a floating spaceship known as Starship Britain.

2. That apparently makes Amelia Amy... oooh, 1306 years old.

3. The Smilers are creatures that live in arcade machine boxes, similar to the Zoltar fortune teller from BIG. Except you should try to avoid interacting with these.

4. Amy is presented with three options, Matrix-style. She chooses the second, then the third.

5. "Protestors and citizens of limited ***** are *** ** *** *****."

6. There's an homage to Katy Brand's "f***ing Queen". But this one is merely "the bloody Queen".

7. Amy: "You look *****." The Doctor: "No, you look **** ****."

8. Amy wears her nightie throughout the episode - and it gets wet.

9. He may appear to be fun and kooky, but this Doctor can get angry. REALLY angry.

10. Episode two directly segues into episode three when The Doctor gets a call from an old pal.

New Titles/Theme - Love it or Hate it?

The brand new theme tune and opening titles have certainly caused controversy among Doctor Who fans - some love it and some hate it, but what about you? Thanks to TARDIS Base for the video below.

Personally, I prefer the older theme tune and the vortex now seems too cloudy. But maybe we'll all get used to it...

Overnight Ratings

Overnight ratings have shown that an impressive 7.7 million people tuned in to watch 'The Eleventh Hour' last night, with an additional 0.3 million tuning in on the HD BBC channel. The official ratings will be revealed in a few weeks, and this is predicted to be higher.

On top of this, 0.88 million watched Doctor Who Confidential afterwards - did anybody see the dancing Weeping Angels? That was pure brilliance.

The Eleventh Hour - Your Thoughts

So, the wait is finally over! It's been two years since we were treated to a full series and the first episode 'The Eleventh Hour' has just been shown. Everything was brand new: the Doctor, the companion, the TARDIS interior, the starting titles... but what did you think?

Was the change good? Did you enjoy it so much that you're already craving the next episode? Or was it all a little disappointing? Please leave your thoughts!

Plus, here's the new trailer! I'll do screencaps tomorrow. Great casting for Vincent van Gogh, in my opinion!

More Clips

Doctor Who is back on television tomorrow in the UK and two more clips have been released from the first episode. Personally, I haven't watched any of the previews - I want to be as surprised as possible, but enjoy anyway!
