Monday Trivia - No 1 UPDATED

It's Monday, so that means it's trivia day here at The Oncoming Storm. All you basically have to do is answer a question related to Doctor Who. If you wish, you can leave your answer in a comment (they've been changed to appear after approval) or you can just do it in your head for fun. Or you could just ignore the whole thing...!

Here is today's question:

What answer (number) will you come to if you add the total number of episodes the Daleks have appeared in since 2005 (not including flashbacks) to the number of letters in the Doctor's favourite fruit (the singular, not the plural - no 's' is needed) and then subtract the number of kisses the Doctor (the real Doctor, not the duplicate or John Smith) has had since 2005?

Answer: (deep breath) Here we go...

Dalek episodes since 2005: Dalek, Bad Wolf, Parting of the Ways, Army of Ghosts, Doomsday, Daleks in Manhattan, Evolution of the Daleks, The Stolen Earth, Journey's End, Victory of the Daleks. TOTAL = 10

The Doctor's favourite fruit: banana TOTAL = 6

The Doctor's kisses since 2005: Rose (Parting of the Ways), Jack (Parting of the Ways), Rose/Cassandra (New Earth), Reinette (Girl in the Fireplace), Jackie (Army of Ghosts), Mickey (Doomsday), Martha (Smith and Jones), Astrid (Voyage of the Damned), Donna (The Unicorn and the Wasp), Lady Christina (Planet of the Dead), Amy Pond (Flesh and Stone.) TOTAL = 11

(10+6) - 11 = 5

If you had five, well done! Maybe it won't be so complicated next week...

New Trailer and Blog News

As Cold Blood has made its debut, our thoughts, of course, turn towards the next episode which is Richard Curtis' Vincent and the Doctor. A brand new trailer has been revealed that you can watch below - doesn't it look great?!

Also, some site news here, I'm aiming to have some new features and make some more posts, so here's a rough schedule:

Monday - Trivia Day. I will post a few questions that you can choose to answer in order to earn some points for the leaderboard.

Wednesday - Which Episode? I will post a picture of the Doctor and you must identify the correct episode that it is from.

Friday - Fansite Friday. I will post a review of a website out there that is one of my favourites.

Saturday - Your Thoughts. After each episode you can come and leave your thoughts about the episode if you want to.

Sunday - Story Sundays. For those of you who enjoy reading stories, every Sunday I will recommend a story that I believe is worth a read.

I realise some of this may not interest everybody, but I'm trying to add more variety and content, so please bear with me!

Cold Blood - Your Thoughts (SPOILERS)

It's Saturday - arguably the best day of the week - and that means Doctor Who has been shown on BBC One and BBC HD! Episode nine - already! There's on four more episodes left! - was the concluding part of the Silurian story, but did you enjoy it?

Did you think the classic Who monster's return was good, or were you a little disappointed with their new look and plans? Also, what did you think of the developments in the series arc and that one major shock? Please leave your thoughts below - all comments are appreciated.

New 'The Pandorica Opens' Pictures

The BBC have revealed two brand new images from The Pandorica Opens! Beware of mini-spoilers! Also, episode eleven, previously called The Lodger, is now rumoured to be called Don't Go Up The Stairs. I'm personally not too sure about this - it's sounds a bit weird to me, but it's better than another title beginning with 'the!'

New Action Figures

Images of the first wave of brand new series five action figures have been released and you can see them all below. They include the Doctor, Amy Pond and many of the Doctor's enemies. They are available to buy from July 25th at the RRP of £8.99 each.

Two Years Online!

The Oncoming Storm has now officially been online for two whole years! Back in 2008, the website started on Blogger after moving from Piczo and ever since it's evolved and regenerated almost as many times as the Doctor himself!

It's been open through most of series four, all of the 2009 specials and series five so far, hopefully covering all the news that surfaced around our favourite TV programme.

I actually don't want to ramble on too much and bore you all, so I'd just like to thank those people who regularly visit and support the blog - it's really, really, really appreciated! It really would be nothing without you. I hope you still enjoy the posts and content, and, fingers crossed, maybe the site will be celebrating another birthday this time next year!

Doctor Who Theme Tune - Third Most Recognisable!

A poll conducted by the Performing Rights Society has found that the Doctor Who theme tune was the 3rd most recognisable one on British television. It lost out to the Match of the Day theme tune and then Eastenders, followed by Coronation Street and Countdown at 4th and 5th.

Despite doing so well, the recently revamped theme tune has caused some controversy amongst fans, claiming that the first half isn't actually that recognisable after all! Despite this, it is clearly a very popular piece of music, first composed by Ron Grainer in 1963.

Thanks to The Cloister Bell.net for this information!

More Teasers

Some more spoiler-free teasers for this week's episode have been released, this time from SFX.

1) It’s a great, big fun episode with probably the biggest number of laugh-out-loud one-liners so far this season – but more “Shakespeare Code” than “The Unicorn And The Wasp” in tone.
2) There’s a great visual gag involving the Doctor getting everyone to shush up.
3) Croatia plays Venice pretty well.
4) The final shot is a very unusual. Not sure what it means, but it’s cool.
5) There’s more snogging.
6) Somebody swaps clothes with somebody else.
7) There’s a great reason why the vampires don’t have reflections.
8) Structurally it’s a very traditional Doctor Who story.
9) Guest stars Helen McCrory and Alex Price (Gilbert from Being Human) are both excellent.
10) The Doctor makes an unexpected entrance.
11) There an extratextual in-joke that’s a doozy.
12) Some of the cinematography and lighting is just exquisite.

2. On entering the TARDIS, Rory doesn't really say what The Doctor wants him to.
3. The First Doctor makes an appearance.
4. The 'vampires' like Amy. Who can blame them? She's delicious!
5. "Where are you from? Did you **** ******* the *****?"
6. Ever wanted to see The Doctor get electrocuted? Luck's in.
7. "Some tiny. Some were as big as the sky."
8. What's 10,000 in number and waiting in the water?
9. Amy enjoys a massive snog with either Rory or The Doctor. Right in front of the other.
10. "All I can **** is... *******."
