Monsters and Red Noses

The monsters in the upcoming special 'Planet of the Dead' are said to be called the Tritovore. The Mirror recently published an article, describing the monsters as "half-man half-fly creatures" and said "they are disgusting and will last long in the memory." Sounds interesting...

Also, David Tennant has done a photoshoot, generally making a fool of himself... oh... sorry, I mean for Comic Relief, and the pictures can be seen in the gallery here. Thanks for david-tennant.com for the images!

David Tennant is going to be presenting the first hour of this year's Comic Relief, it has been confirmed. He will be alongside Davina McCall on March 13th 2009 for the first 60 minutes of the charity show, aiming to raise money for all kinds of unfortunate people.

Lots of celebrities will be helping with the event, there is expected to be a performance from Bryn and Nessa from Gavin and Stacey with 'Barry Islands in the Stream' as well as appearances from Gary Barlow (Take That) and many more. It's definitely something to look forward to!

Martha to Return?

Rumours have been flying around that Martha Jones, played by Freema Agyeman, could be returning to Doctor Who one last time before the 10th incarnation, played by David Tennant, regenerates into Doctor No 11, Matt Smith.

The Sun, hardly one of the most reliable newspapers..., has said, "Freema’s on board. It’s early days so it’s unclear what exactly Martha will be up to in the new show."

Well, we'll have to wait and see, but perhaps this could be one return too many for Miss Jones? Martha first appeared for the whole of Series 3, then featured in 3 Torchwood episodes, 'Reset,' 'Dead Man Walking' and 'A Day in the Death.' She then returned to Doctor Who during Series 4 for 3 episodes, 'The Sontaran Stratagem,' 'The Poison Sky' and 'The Doctor's Daughter.' She then re-returned during the finale 'The Stolen Earth' and 'Journey's End.' Now that's a history!

Possible Planet of the Dead Delay

There could be a delay for the Easter special 'Planet of the Dead.' This is because the double decker bus, which was being used during filming, was badly damaged while being shipped over to Dubai. This means Russell T Davies, the writer of the episode, has had to quickly rewrite some scenes including the bus, causing the episode to possibly be shown in late Spring instead of Easter.

This isn't good news! Everything seems to be delayed this year; Torchwood and now, possibly, Doctor Who. Still, I suppose it's better late than never...

Cast Of Easter Special Confirmed

It has now been officially confirmed that Michelle Ryan will star in this year's Easter Special Planet of the Dead as the feisty
Lady Christina de Souza. The character is "a woman with a mysterious past who's going to have a huge impact on the Doctor." Two official promotional pictures inside the double decker bus can be seen below. Also, comedian Lee Evans is confirmed to appear in a special, supposedly as a character called Malcolm.

Even More Filming Pics

More filming has been underway in Cardiff, this time with David Tennant and a woman, who looks very much like Michelle Ryan, on set. They were sat together in the double decker bus, which, according to rumours, is later destroyed... I did not take any pictures, credit again to the usual people.

David Tennant and Michelle Ryan? Maybe Eve Myles?

More Filming Pictures

Filming is still busily commencing in Cardiff, and more pictures have emerged online. Once again, thanks to Scooty and Planet Gallifrey. Fingers crossed I'll be able to see some filming on Sunday! Anyway, the pictures are below and they confirm UNIT's return. It all took place by a tunnel last night, the road had to be blocked off in order for the filming to happen safely. It seems no one has spotted David Tennant yet...

Filming Information

I know it's been all over the internet, but I'm gonna post about it anyway because it's all very exciting! Before I start, all credit for this post goes to Scooty and Planet Gallifrey.

Firstly, the filming has been taking place around/inside a museum in Wales and we know that James Strong has been directing. A red double decker bus saying "Unbeatable Global Call Tariffs - Neon" has been spotted heading to "Braintree." Also, in the costume and make up van, a crushed bus of the same type has been spotted, so perhaps this is part of the plot.

Many believe Michelle Ryan was on location, but this hasn't been confirmed. Also, a dark brown, almost burnt looking skeleton prop was brought out of the Museum.

The place where it's all happening.

I'm hoping that this weekend I'll be able to look for this museum seeing as I will be in Cardiff anyway, (oh the joys of living in Wales!) so maybe some photos of my own will be up soon. If you have any photos, feel free to share them.

Michelle Ryan - Next Companion?

Well the media are at it again, this time Michelle Ryan is supposedly going to be the next companion. Famous for her roles in Eastenders, Merlin and The Bionic Woman, Michelle Ryan would be a well known face beside Matt Smith, who has been called an "unknown."

The Daily Mirror has said, "A source on the show said Michelle's been in secret talks with BBC bosses. They are likely to announce her as the Doctor's new assistant very soon. She is perfect for the role. She is goodlooking and the right age to star alongside Matt. Everyone agrees they look great together and reckon fans will think they're the perfect team too."

This is all rumours at the moment but she seems a good choice for the companion. Thanks to Life, Doctor Who and Combom for the info! Also, don't forget Doctor Who filming for the Specials begins tomorrow, January 19th! If you have any reports of filming, feel free to send an email.

Billie Approves of New Doctor

In a recent interview, Billie Piper has revealed that she loves the new choice for the Doctor - literally. Miss Piper, who played Rose Tyler during Series 1, 2 and 4, said, "I love him. He's a stirring actor, and he has the right energy. That's what the Doctor is about, essentially - having that energy that you just can't understand."

Billie has worked with Matt Smith before in The Ruby in the Smoke, The Shadow in the North and Secret Diary of a Call Girl, but could she return to Doctor Who and become his companion once more? "I don't know. It's hard. Sometimes you just want to leave something behind, and then you see an episode and are like, 'God I really want to do it!' You change your mind all the time."

However, it is fairly unlikely that Rose will come back, as Steven Moffat has called her 'needy.' Perhaps it should be a good few years yet, but she assures fans, "They're in good hands."

The interview is from TVGuide.com.

Children of Earth Delay

The Torchwood 5-part special is set to be delayed until Summer 2009 rather than the originally planned Spring 2009 date. This is because BBC America are planning to show the special at the same time as BBC One. So this is how things are looking for us:

Easter 2009
Doctor Who - Planet of the Dead

Summer 2009
Torchwood - Children of Earth

Late 2009
Sarah Jane Adventures Series 3

Looks like 2009 isn't as bad as it seems!

The Taking of Chelsea 426 By David Llewellyn

The Chelsea Flower Show – Hardly the most exciting or dangerous event in the calendar, or so the Doctor thinks. But this is Chelsea 426, a city-sized future colony floating on the clouds of Saturn, and the flowers are much more than they seem.

As the Doctor investigates, he becomes more and more worried. Why is shopkeeper Mr Pemberton acting so strangely? And what is Professor Wilberforce’s terrible secret?

They are close to finding the answers when a familiar foe arrives, and the stakes suddenly get much higher. The Sontarans have plans of their own, and they’re not here to arrange flowers...

The Krillitane Storm By Christopher Cooper

When the TARDIS materialises in medieval Worcester, the Doctor finds the city seemingly deserted. He soon discovers its population are living in a state of terror, afraid to leave their homes after dark, for fear of meeting their doom at the hands of the legendary Devil’s Huntsman.

For months, people have been disappearing, and the Sheriff has imposed a strict curfew across the city, his militia maintaining control over the superstitious populace with a firm hand, closing the city to outsiders. Is it fear of attack from beyond the city walls that drives him or the threat closer to home? Or does the Sheriff have something to hide?

After a terrifying encounter with a deadly Krillitane, the Doctor realises the city has good reason to be scared.

Lack of Updates

Over the next few weeks, there may be a few lack of updates due to the fact that I am revising for my Mock Exams at the moment. These are from the 12th-22nd and there may not be daily posts from those dates. Sorry if this has caused any trouble, please don't give up on the site; the updates will return to normal, I promise. :)
On another note, the TOCS Series 1 is currently running it's finale which involves the Master, you may want to either continue reading them or begin reading! There will be a second series in March.

They Try to Make Me Play the Rani...

... but will she say no, no, no? Apparently, Amy Winehouse, famous for her soul music, is playing the Rani during Series 5. The latest rumours have appeared since Amy is a huge fan of the show. The Rani, who appeared in the classic series, is an evil scientific genius of a Time Lord (or should I say, Lady?) who took over planets and was generally, evil. Perhaps Amy Winehouse could fit this role? But given her recent problems and upcoming divorce, perhaps the rumours will just stay as rumours.

Thanks to Combom for this story!

Monday 5 January 2009

Alright Doctah?

Ever since the 11th Doctor was revealed on Saturday, the media's attention has now been turned to who will be the companion during Series 5. The favourites at the moment are singers Lily Allen and Rachel Stevens, and TV presenter Kelly Brook. Rumour has it that because Matt Smith is fairly unknown, a popular woman/man is going to be cast as his companion. Personally, I'd just be happy to see Rose return, but what do you think?

Sunday 4 January 2009

Questions! So Many Questions!

So the reveal of the next Doctor has caused all sorts of craziness but there are some questions we need answered! Thanks to Combom for the inspiration in this post!

- What will Doctor 11's personality be like? Crazy? Serious?
- What will he wear?
- Who will his companion be?
- How will Doctor 10 regenerate?
- Where will it happen?
- What will his last words be?
- What will Doctor 11's first words be?
- Is the TARDIS desktop theme/theme tune really changing, like rumours have implied?

Well there you go, think you can answer any?

Saturday 3 January 2009

And The 11th Doctor Is...

... Matt Smith! A fairly unknown actor who has starred in 'Ruby and the Smoke' with Billie Piper, former companion Rose Tyler. For some information about him click here. This is the youngest incarnation of the Doctor so far at a mere 26 years old! Is this too young to cope with all the attention he will be getting over the next year?

What do you think of this man as the Doctor? Will he be as good as David Tennant? Is he the right choice for the Doctor? Leave your comments below.

Eleventh Doctor Announced Tomorrow

The rumours were correct; the actor who will be playing the 11th Doctor will be announced during the 10 Doctors special tomorrow night on BBC One at 5.35pm. The BBC website has confirmed it here. The favourites to be the Doctor are Paterson Joseph (who played Rodrick in Bad Wolf/Parting of the Ways) and even Catherine Zeta Jones... will there be a female Doctor?

What do you think of them announcing this? Is it a good move?

Confidential: The 10 Doctors

This Saturday, BBC One are airing a special Doctor Who Confidential entitled 'The 10 Doctors.' It seems odd they are showing this during prime time, at 5.35pm, on the main channel and not on BBC Three- this has sparked rumours that the actor who will be playing the 11th Doctor after David Tennant will be revealed during the programme. However, this has not been confirmed yet. Be sure to tune in on the 3rd of January to see this special programme!

Also, congratulations to Elise, whose winning banner is up now! Thank you for all the entries submitted.
